Writing and developing a creative documentary

Thursday 22.08, 10:00, Salle Cinéma

The CNC is once again organising a workshop on the process of developing a documentary project that has received financial support from the Aid Fund for Audiovisual Innovation in Creative Documentary.

The workshop will be organised around the project Das Rad, voyage d’un vélo by Ambra Tonini, produced by Valérie Dupin (Les Productions du Lagon, La Ciotat). This project was granted reinforced development aid in 2018.

Beyond the origins of the project, the tasks of writing and developing the production, the place of archive images, amateur and home movies, the workshop will centre on the choice of using animation and the problems of constructing memory in cinema.

Ambra Tonini is a photographer, visual artist and video artist whose career began in theatre with the multimedia show A Collection, presented by the Living Theatre in London. She then exhibited documentary/video installations and directed a fiction short film, Bianca’s Eyes.

The film is produced by Les Productions du Lagon, a company established in the Marseille region since 1994 which accompanies engaged documentaries in a permanent reflection around political, economic and social issues.

Synopsis:
Das Rad, voyage d’un vélo tells the extraordinary story of my grandfather Angelo, unwillingly thrust into the turbulence of history in 1942 after he was sent to the camp of Bergen-Belsen as a prisoner of war when he was twenty. In a Europe under the clouds of a new wave of neo-fascism, I want to help my father turn the gears of memory, a little like those of a rusty old bike.

Workshop moderated by Valentine Roulet, Head of the Creation Service (CNC).
With the participation of Ambra Tonini and Valérie Dupin.
