We, filmmakers present at Lussas, do not make a living from our profession, or very badly. We are conscious of the weak economic circumstances of our productions. The desire for films cannot be judged. The important thing is for our films to exist.
On April 8, writers/filmmakers, journalists and documentary filmmakers working in all the television stations and in cinema talked about their working conditions.
Surprise: we all suffer the same precarious existence. We have no access to the budgets of our films. We are less well paid than the technical crew of whom we are responsible.
We have decided to say WE and to create OUR union. For it is a fact: our professions belong to the same field of application of labour law. Together, we want to invent a way of governing – directing – OUR films that permits each one to exist.
