Story of a production: Sister productions

Friday 27.08, 14:30, Salle Cinéma

SISTER (anagram of RESIST), founded by Julie Paratian ten years ago, is growing alongside film creators who are committed artistically and politically, giving our documentary and fiction films national and international visibility in the greatest festivals, in cinemas as well as on television.
A few examples: Thomas Lacoste’s The Democratic Hypothesis – A Basque Story, Should the Wind Drop by Nora Martirosyan (Cannes Official selection and Acid double label), You Think The Earth Is a Dead Thing by Florence Lazar (ARTE La Lucarne, IDFA competition), Demons in Paradise by Jude Ratnam (Cannes Official selection), South to North by Antoine Boutet (Locarno, Cineasti del presente).
At Sister, the quality of the production process is just as important as the result. We choose the people, writers, directors, co-producers and technicians with whom we work as much as the projects. We are feminists in content and in form, without labels, faithful, curious about the younger generations.
Our upcoming films draw on Greek mythology, speak of literature, urban poetry as much as popular song, support the struggle for territorial sovereignty and emancipation. From an empty lot in Bordeaux to the islands of the Aegean Sea via Lanzarote or New Mexico, we seek to inhabit the world, and if possible in alternative ways!
Brazza, Antoine Boutet’s new film, traces life on a construction site over several years. He documents the transformation of a space from a supposed “nothing” to “everything”, disrupting the flow of time by means of the cinema.
