The Cinémathèque du documentaire, launched at the end of 2017, is a public institution with the vocation of stimulating the screening of documentary films. It supports a network of some fifty venues throughout continental France and overseas territories, and one in Belgium. In Paris, it organises daily screenings at the Centre Pompidou. It contributes to the inventory and identification of films. It proposes an online selection of films.
In these tasks, it works with several partners: Images en bibliothèques, the Bibliothèque publique d’information (Bpi), film-documentaire.fr and Tënk.
Thanks to the initial, engaged support of its principal sources of funding – CNC, France Télévisions, LaScam, Audiens, Sacem, Procirep and ARTE – the Cinémathèque du documentaire constitutes a major, singular and federative actor in the film and television scene in France.
