This moving portrait of an old country doctor is a meditation in image and words on the eternal return of the cycle of life and death. The highly poetic commentary describes the doctor as the revealer and link of village life, he who has incessantly roamed its paths and roads for several decades as if his body had become one with the landscape. The old man is in fact the father of the director, who pays him tribute with tenderness and melancholy, seeing in him an image of compassion, a pietà. (Dario Marchiori)
