Sacem Evening

The Sacem enthusiastically associates with this very special edition of the Lussas États généraux du film documentaire. In an unprecedented context where many uncertainties remain regarding the resumption of cultural activities, this unmissable event for documentary creation has chosen to maintain its summer edition and we support it more than ever.
Whether it accompanies a scene or fully participates in the narrative, music is an inseparable component of an audiovisual work: it is what sets the tone, defines an atmosphere, signals a style or an era, intensifies the narrative and emotions… Music and image are intimately bound and have a common history. This is why the Sacem promotes meetings between writer-directors and composers, supports the creation of music documentaries, and strives to promote original music for documentaries.
This year, the Award for best music documentary will be presented to Soul Kids, directed by Hugo Sobelman. This film takes us to Memphis and plunges us into the history of the civil rights struggle through soul music hits. The soundtrack is by composers Kelvin Walters and Nygel Yancey. By supporting this film, the Sacem wishes to honour documentary cinema and the musical creation dedicated to it.
Beautiful screenings to all!
