2020 August encounters August encounters
From Monday 17.08 to Wednesday 19.08 in Saint-Laurent-sous-Coiron, behind closed doors.
After all these months of lockdown, separation, fear, and often anger, it seemed essential to us to maintain these August meetings which, as the name suggests, are first and foremost a time of encounters. And this year, perhaps more than ever, of reunions.
In this edition which is not quite like any other, we will make a point of taking advantage of the opportunity we have to be gathered in Saint-Laurent-sous-Coiron. From there, we will travel from Russia to Taiwan, via Angola and Iran. From project to project, we will experience the film-becoming of stories that look at us because they each involve in their own singular way our common share of human destiny. We are grateful and happy to salute again this year our irreplaceable readers (programme commissioners, local televisions, distributors, heads of CNC and regional aid committees, a representative of the Tënk platform) who, the rest of the year, support the existence of creative documentary cinema from where they are. Many of them are faithful among the faithful, but this year again, we are pleased to welcome many newcomers, whom we hope will also return, of course.
This year, the artistic coordination and workshops on the first day will be led by Rebecca Houzel (Petit à petit production), Céline Loiseau (TS Productions), Raphaël Pillosio (L’atelier documentaire) and Sophie Salbot (Athenaïse Productions).
A huge thank you to them and to the team of the École documentaire, who doggedly handled the whole organization this year: Anouck Everaere and Lulu Scott, assisted by Juliette Didelot and Carla Le Touzé, as well as the reduced but valiant team of the États généraux du film documentaire.
