“Brouillon d'un rêve” remains one of the only funds available in the realm of documentary creation to directly support, with wide criteria of eligibility, the creators of budding projects. As a living programme, it is designed to permanently adapt to the evolution of practices. Last year, as a result of a long reflection, we created as a complement the Scounting fund. Set at 2,500 euros it is decided with a lighter submission, eight pages as against fifteen for the original fund, which can then rise to 6,000 euros as a follow-up to scouting. This seed fund is unique, precious and hence much in demand. A proof of the pertinence of this new opportunity open to film creators, we have been submerged with requests. Once again, we were obliged to adjust, deploying significant resources to respond to the demand as well as possible.
The constant flow of candidates forces us to do an enormous amount of work in preparation. Certainly the system remains perfectible but the human and financial efforts have been largely rewarded by the birth of lively and singular films, once again attested to in the programme of the Etats généraux. It is fed by filmmakers’ curiosity, their desire to share their dreams, the diversity of ways of looking and of approach. This year, we travel from Lens to Mayotte, we are nomads among the pariahs of employment, share a few moments in the incessant struggles of undocumented foreigners and are amazed by the vocalisation of a blackbird. From social struggles to the trills of birds is what we could call the song of the world. There will be a celebration in the village. And long live documentary.
