We are delighted at the CNC to support this new edition of the Lussas Etats généraux du film documentaire. It is a moment for the profession to come together again, a profession which has felt the impact of the crisis on the process of creation. Documentary requires courage but, above all, liberty. Allowing creators their freedom is the meaning of the action of the CNC.
All along the crisis, we have striven to accompany as effectively as possible the creators and producers of documentary, taking into account their difficulties with the aid fund for documentary innovation that was reinforced in 2021, with the support for creative filmmaking careers, half of which went to documentary filmmakers, or again through the solidarity funds managed in collaboration with LaScam and the SACD, not to mention the exceptional aid paid out to documentary filmakers because of difficulties that arose from the health crisis.
And at the moment of writing, concertation is continuing so that documentary may become eligible for conception funding.
At the same time, we have set up a new regulatory framework that guarantees the artistic, economic and judicial independence of film creators. But obviously, there remain important issues.
That is why I have decided that 2023 will be the year of documentary, the opportunity to take full stock of documentary creation, a complete overview of the future challenges facing the industry in France.
In the meantime, we continue our activities alongside the sector and we are happy to be associated with this 34th edition of Lussas during which we will organise various workshops aimed at professionals, notably emerging ones.
