What future for places that propose alternative ways of creating and distributing films? Two collectives will discuss their struggles, the difficulties they face in trying to preserve sites of unconstrained creation.
Film buffs, students and professionals relayed each other from 2019 to 2022 to occupy the filmhouse La Clef in Paris and propose a collective programme at open pricing. They are working today to organise the purchase of the site in order to make the project durable.
L’Abominable is a shared film laboratory devoted to working on chemical film. Obliged in 2022 to leave its premises in La Courneuve, L’Abominable has set up shop today in the old Éclair laboratories at Épinay-sur-Seine in the hope of building the Navire Argo: a permanent site combining a film lab and a public screening room.
