Situated in North-East Colombia, on the Caribbean coast, the Cienaga Grande, because it is so extensive, is the second biggest zone of marshland in the world after the Everglades in Florida.
It is also one of the last natural paradises on the planet. It is an area of 4,280 km2 where myriads of migrating birds live, between forests of mangroves and brackish water. It is a harmonious but fragile ecosystem, caught in the grip of advancing civilisation but where the mythical dimension persists. Gabriel Garcia Marquez who is a native of this region, drew his inspiration here for writing "Cent Ans de solitude".
Carlos Rendón Zipagauta leads us through daily life in the Cienaga Grande thanks to a family of fishermen and especially an old man and his grandson.
This film is a song of hope for the saving of one of the most beautiful regions of Colombia.
