The conjunction of contemporary images of Algeria and Paris with texts by the multiple actors in the conquest of this country by France from 1830 on should make visible, audible and manifest, I hope, this conquest which led to the destruction of a part of the Algerian population, its culture and civilisation. From 1830 to 1848, the sayings and writings of more or less illustrious (and illustrated) characters of 19th century France are confronted with recent images of these two countries, two worlds.
