Pioneer in the genre of autobiographical documentary, Sara Gómez explores her family roots to offer a family portrait using photos, popular music and tales told by women. This film is also a precious document on a disappearing period and way of life: that of middle or upper class black families in Cuba who met up in exclusive bars just before the Cuban revolution. With a revealing shift of perspective, Sara recounts the history of her family through one of its most hidden member: neither mother nor father, but her godmother who died just at the end of the shoot.
