The choreographer and dancers of the National Theatre stage a wemilere in honour of a pagan saint and go to learn this art from anonymous artists in the city. In the film, rehearsals are mixed with the theatrical representation. “In the sixties, Cuban cinema was in black and white. Directors of photography did the first productions in colour, for instance Haydú, whose use of colour in Historia de un ballet is truly remarkable.
