Roberto Rossellini
1977 - France - Couleur - 57'
On January 31, 1977, the Pompidou Centre opened. To accompany the birth of this giant and unveil it worldwide, the Minister of Foreign Affairs decided to commission a film by Roberto Rossellini. Thanks to work stylistically similar to an ethnological film, composed of long zoom movements, the Pompidou Centre entered the history of cinema. “I used neither music nor narration in the film.… I hid dozens of microphones and picked up the voices of the public who came in crowds to visit Beaubourg.” (Roberto Rossellini)
