Filmed in the liberated zones of Guinea-Bissau during its war of independence from Portugal, Madina Boé follows the activities of the Popular Army for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau/Cape Verde. Massip directs a film essay on the emancipation of the Guinean people, using multiple forms in its style and an experimental strategy. Not only showing the techniques of guerilla warfare and physical training, he also films political education and rituals, explaining at the same time the practical and philosophical nature of the armed struggle in Guinea-Bissau over which hovers the mythical figure of Amilcar Cabral.
