People live on different levels, therefore even in basements, like the family in this film. This seems to be fate, but in spite of everything, the protagonists in this film succeed in maintaining, re-habilitating and reasserting the meaning and values of life. The heavy atmosphere of this film is simply the product of an astonishing sense of detail and rhythm.
