Sylvain George
2008 - France - Noir & Blanc - 40'
Specialist of Gianikian, educated as a philosopher, Sylvain George covers the struggles and oppression which clandestine migrants experience throughout Europe in a style inspired by Peter Emmanuel Goldman and his Pestilent City with its soul-rending jazz. In Super 8 and video, he explores the dark zones of history, the corridors of migration, the thresholds and barriers of Fortress Europe, in Calais, Ceuta, Melilla, alongside the Paris rail stations, on the beaches of Toulon where the drowned are fished out.
