On Christmas Eve 2006, I receive a letter confirming that my father is suffering from Alzheimer’s. That evening I begin to film him, following through in the following days and nights. Beside the puzzle of everyday life, the growing loss of memory opens a window onto his childhood in the Third Reich and his life in post-war Germany. The film becomes a logbook of a ten-year trip through reality where almost nothing remains the way it was before.
