Humphrey Jennings
1941 - Grande-Bretagne - Noir & Blanc - 8'
The film combines the quintessence of Jennings' love of England with a plea for help from the USA. It comprises seven short pieces of prose and poetry: William Camden, Milton, Blake, Browning, Kipling, Wordsworth and Abraham Lincoln. The accompanying images do not merely illustrate the words but resonate with them and provide new associations. Readings by Laurence Olivier. This film is also known as For Us the Living.
