For three months, the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council was the theatre of a political drama whose stakes extended well beyond the scope of the region.
Starting in October 1998, and for 3 1/2 months, we chose to follow certain elected representatives, in particular three council members belonging to the republican right : Marie-Thérèse Geffroy, Fabienne Lévy and Thierry Cornillet, who, from the start, said no to the alliance between Charles Millon and the National Front.
This documentary addresses the notion of the "Republican Union" and intends to be a thoughtful investigation of the work and attitude of the politicians during the weeks when tragedy and ridicule were bedfellows and when moral and philosophical convictions disturbed political alliances.
