Maitre Geradins's Treasure
Jean-Baptiste Mathieu
2022 - 52 min - Vidéo Full HD - Couleur - France

In 1907, the Lumière brothers developed the first color photographic process on an autochrome plate. Julien Gérardin, a notary in Nancy (France), fell under the spell of this invention. In less than ten years, he took thousands of pictures that echoed the art of his time.
A century later, his treasure will be found by chance. The director returns to his hometown to follow in the footsteps of this forgotten artist, lover of women and nature. Through an intimate investigation, he revisits the places photographed and questions all those who could shed light on the double life of this mysterious man.
A journey through time and a questioning on art and posterity.
