A film of the daily life of an undertaker in a small town in Burgundy, his place in communal life and the intimacy of the relationship he has with the dead and with death.
A film which tries to be a means of showing an "acceptable" picture of death, far from the commercial disputes of the business, far from indiscretion or negation ; that is a film which reveals the difficulty of seeing and showing death in its real and everyday aspects.
