Obalé le chasseur Série-Collection : Lumière d’Afrique

Faissol Gnonlonfin
2012 - 52 min - DV Cam - Couleur - France, Niger

In Akpakpa, Benin, to be ceremonially recognised as a great hunter requires having killed one large animal. But hunting is no longer what it once was. The disappearance of large animals threatens the equilibrium of the forest. The meeting between Obalé, young hunter, and Noël, protector of nature, stimulates a certain awareness among the hunters, then divided between the tradition of hunting and protection of the environment.
The film is situated at the heart of this confrontation between two worlds which are obliged to cohabitate in the interests of species' preservation.
