Such a Long March
Dominique Loreau
2022 - 62 min - Vidéo Full HD - Couleur - Belgique

The film follows the migration strewn with pitfalls of Chinese crabs, imported from China by accident at the beginning of the 20th century, which are born in the North Sea, go up the course of the rivers of Flanders to grow there for a few years, before to go back down to the sea to reproduce and die there.
Forced to come out of the water to circumvent obstacles erected by humans, they sometimes invade small towns in Flanders or cause malfunctions in the cooling system of a nuclear power station, giving rise to various reactions, speculations and fantasies in the imagination of local residents who encounter them.
And they delight Chinese exiles who ritually taste them in honor of the full moon. A modern poetic parable, between reality and fiction, open to the fragmentary diversity of reality.
