The fresh and insolent vision of Gyula Gazdag and the astonishing formal structure of his film indicates his membership in the “Sociological Film Group”, which defended within BBS the concept of an authentic representation of reality in documentary by applying the scientific methods of sociology. Gazdag captures the phases of a long-distance race run by a young athlete and reveals all along his filming strategy: the crew followed the protagonist from beginning to end, and the shooting process itself is part of the final result. Reflexivity and humour are thus the tools chosen to present a situation at once ordinary and absurd. (F. R.)
