1971 - Hongrie - Noir & Blanc - 31'
The main character of this portrait is a bodybuilder obsessed with his own physical and mental health: he works out at home with tools of his own making and sharpens his mind with the ethical teachings of diverse philosophies. But the idealistic image of an ethical man struggling for the kingdom of Good and Freedom is dramatically broken: his aspiration for fulfilment includes the inevitable loss of harmony and happiness. Péter Dobai was obliged to add a commentary to the introductory images as a condition for the film’s distribution, but it was nonetheless banned. A new and troubling view, cynical and humanistic, ironic and touching. (Federico Rossin)
