2020 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region
It is a source of great pride for Florence Verney-Carron, vice-president in charge of culture and heritage in the Region, and myself to support once more the Lussas États généraux du film documentaire.
This thirty-second edition will certainly have a special flavour because of the health crisis we have just gone through. Nevertheless, I am convinced that it will be a very good year, with a digital format that promises to be generous. It will generate fascinating exchanges between students, directors and producers. Documentary film is indeed a sector of excellence in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It contributes to the cinematographic prestige of our region, which saw the birth of cinema thanks to the Lumière brothers.
We support this heritage determinately, in particular through the Aid Fund for Audiovisual and New Media Creation, which allows the production of more than a hundred films or series within the region. Our support to the États généraux du film documentaire is thus fully in tune with our ambition to make Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes a leading European region in the field of cinema and audiovisual production.
This event will once again allow the talents of tomorrow to emerge. Finally, I would like to congratulate the organizers for their capacity to adapt to the context of the health crisis in such a short period of time. Let the world of cinema know that the Region will always be a leading partner by its side.
