What new regional aides to accompany the work of creative filmmakers?
The aid structures for filmmakers are being transformed from top to bottom on both national and regional levels. If aid funds for writing have existed for a while, new funds take into account the work of the filmmaker in a wider perimeter and over a longer period of time. The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region proposes for example support for the “project after” and the Centre-Val de Loire Region, via Ciclic set up in 2021 an “aid for filmmakers’ careers”. Based on an overview of the different regional aid structures, we can see at the same time great disparities but also several principle trends pointing to what could be a support for creative filmmakers in the reality of their task of creation.

Organised by La Boucle Documentaire, a federation of 17 regional and national associations of filmmakers, and AURA-AURA, a group of filmmakers in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
