More than just one art among others, cinema constitutes in our region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes one of the pillars of the territory’s cultural heritage. The origins of film go back to the innovation and genius of the Lumière brothers who, in our city of Lyon, launched a movement which led it to become consecrated as a major element in popular culture worldwide. This is a precious heritage that we are proud to support and transmit through an ambitious policy carried out since 2016 in support of the film industry in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
This has resulted in a significant increase in the financial support given to cinematic production which has allowed us to accompany the creation of films increasing awareness of our land and scenery around the world while developing the activity of professionals in our region. To that aim, we rely on the know-how of our poles of excellence, such as Ardèche images in Lussas, which does remarkable work as much in training and education as in creation and the screening of documentary films. The États généraux organised by the association each year is a perfect illustration and it is with pride that the Region stands by its side.
