A recreation of the nine-month voyage in 1801 of the German explorer and scientist Alexander von Humboldt through the territory that is now called Colombia, from Cartagena on the north coast to the city of Pasto in the south. Documents and images from engravings of 19th century are combined with the staging of an actor playing the role of the German scholar. The texts come from letters and writings by von Humboldt himself. “It’s a film that I made by hand; I did photography, camera, direction, sound, editing, I physically act in the film. I had to turn on the camera and run in front of it. An unbelievable thing.” Sergio Cabrera
