Story of a production: Dublin Films

Dublin Films is a production company founded in 2006 and based in Bordeaux. We produce fiction and documentary films for the cinema and television, films that express singular points of view on the world, favouring reflections on society and politics, questioning the notions of diversity and identity. We like to mix small stories of the intimate with the large History and we consider it important to support the emergence of independent talent and cinema around the world, in particular in Latin America.

After a career as a technician, David Hurst started producing creative films in 2010. Today he is the majority shareholding manager and principal producer at Dublin Films, strongly attached to the idea that the films he produces should participate in a form of resistance to the standardisation of film proposals. Recently he began distributing some of his films. He is also a corporate member of Tënk and co-president of the association Produire en Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
These last years, he has produced or coproduced films which have been selected and won prizes in numerous festivals including Mon tissu préféré by Gaya Jiji (Cannes Un Certain regard 2018), La Arrancada by Aldemar Matias (Berlinale Panorama 2019), Nos corps sont vos champs de bataille by Isabelle Solas (Best Film award at the FICG section Premio Maguey and Grand Prize at the Festival Chéries-Chéris 2021, distributed in cinemas by Dublin Films in March 2022), Silent Voice by Reka Valerik (Official selection at the César Prize and 2022 Scam Documentary Prize), La Roya by Juan Sebastian Mesa (SSIFF New Directors 2021, theatrical distribution by Dublin Films in March 2023), Anhell69 by Theo Montoya (2022 Venice Critic’s Week), Pornomelancolia by Manuel Abramovich (Official Competition SSIFF 2022, distributed in cinemas by Epicentre Films in June 2023).

Screening hosted by Valentine Roulet, in the presence of David Hurst.
