A hearse drives through the streets of Medellín as a young filmmaker recounts his story in a city marked by conflict, violence and paradox. He recalls his childhood, his encounter with his country’s auteur cinema and the discovery of his sexuality. He then set out to make his first film, a fiction about a ghost cult. The cast was drawn from the queer youth of Medellín, but the lead actor died of an overdose at the age of twenty-one. As the director watches other friends disappear, Anhell69 explores the fears, doubts and dreams of a shattered generation, and the struggle to keep making movies.
