In this short, Babaja examines – only in images, without words – people waiting in the waiting rooms of hospitals and state offices: their faces, hands, gestures, facial movements, smoking... As these people are in a state of (seemingly eternal) waiting, Čekaonica can also be seen as a political critique of the Yugoslav bureaucratic system, although a very subtle one.
