In this disturbing and frenetically edited film, Guillén Landrián associates the Cuban revolutionary project with Apollo 11’s touchdown on the moon’s surface, the film Memories of Underdevelopment (1968) with advertising and the Beatles. “The formal brilliance of his editing is anything but incoherent, displaying virtuosity in its mastery and recalling Eistenstein in its rhythmic cutting of images reworked in an optical printer, mixing atomic explosions, the civil rights movement in the US, the poetry of his uncle, the martyrs of the struggle against colonialism, messages of public interest, revolutionary speeches and slogans.” Jesse Lerner.
