In Senegal, the name Omar Blondin Diop is synonymous with an unpunished state crime. In France, he is best remembered as a Marxist militant who appeared in Jean-Luc Godard’s political futurist drama La Chinoise. Today in Dakar, his brothers and relatives recall his memory, while the local youth are playing out their own destiny in the imperfect tense of the present of China-Africa.
